After completion of his Acupuncture degree, Dr. Benji traveled to Japan to teach English in Osaka, and while in Japan Dr. Benji was exposed to various Japanese Acupuncture practitioners, being able to both observe and attend a number of conventions and lectures dealing with Japanese Acupuncture and Japanese herbal medicine (Kampo). Dr. Benji also spent some time training Aikido in Japan, and has integrated these learned techniques into his clinic régime.
Dr. Benji returned from Osaka in early 2006, and started practice in Collins Street in August of that year. On deciding on the appropriate location, Dr. Benji believed that it was of utmost importance that there should be an Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) clinic in the CBD that was interested in more than just treating a patient’s physical ailments. Dr. Benji’s philosophy is centered on the importance of the Mind-Body unity in the individual.
Dr. Benji specialises in the treatment of Infertility, Women’s health and IVF support, seasonal and epidemic illnesses, emotional imbalances, sport injury, Men’s health, weight loss and gastrointestinal illness.
Dr. Benji is concerned with giving the patient a full range of strategies and education to allow better healing and greater support throughout the treatment process. The importance of the way the Mind and Body unifies is of the utmost importance in the treatment strategies Dr. Benji employs. A typical consultation and treatment involves a thorough health assessment, acupuncture and dispensing of a personalised herbal formula, as well as a personalised diet and exercise plan. The initial consultation takes about 1 hour, and subsequent consultations take between 30-45 minutes.
